What Is Pneumoconiosis?
Pneumoconiosis is a group of occupational lung diseases caused by inhaling dust particles over an extended period of time. These particles can become trapped in the lungs, leading to inflammation, scarring and permanent damage.
The most commonly recognised form in Queensland is Coal Workers' Pneumoconiosis (Black Lung Disease), which is caused by prolonged exposure to coal mine dust.
